Questions You're Too Embarrassed to Ask Your Waxer
Let's be honest...
If you've never had a Brazilian wax before, you've probably had at least one of these thoughts:
"What if she judges me?"
"What if I fart?"
"What if I haven't shaved in forever?"
"What if I look... weird?"
First of all, take a deep breath.
I promise you're not the first person to wonder these things, and you definitely won't be the last. Chances are, if you've thought it, someone else has asked it.
So let's answer a few of the questions people are usually too embarrassed to say out loud.
"Do I need to trim before my appointment?"
Nope.
Unless your hair is unusually long, leave it alone.
Your hair should be about the length of a grain of rice (roughly ΒΌ inch) so the wax has enough to grab. If it's too short because you shaved recently, the wax may not be able to remove it effectively.
When in doubt, don't stress. I'll let you know if anything needs to be adjusted.
"What if I haven't shaved in months?"
That's completely okay.
In fact, I'd rather have enough hair to wax than not enough.
Please don't apologize for your hair growth. It's literally what you're coming to see me for.
"Can I get waxed on my period?"
Yes!
As long as you're wearing a tampon or menstrual cup, we can absolutely wax during your period.
Just keep in mind that your skin can be a little more sensitive around that time of the month, so you may notice the wax feels slightly more uncomfortable than usual.
"What if I fart?"
Ah yes... the question everyone secretly wants answered.
Here's the truth.
Bodies do body things.
You're lying in different positions, your muscles are moving, and sometimes embarrassing moments happen.
It has happened before.
It will happen again.
And I promise it is never as big of a deal as you think it is.
We'll both survive.
"What if I have stretch marks?"
Then you have stretch marks.
So do a lot of people.
Stretch marks, scars, cellulite, freckles, skin tags... I see real bodies every single day.
None of those things change how I treat you, and none of them make me think twice.
"What if I'm plus-size?"
Then you're welcome here.
Every body deserves to feel comfortable and cared for.
Your size is not something you need to apologize for or explain before your appointment.
"What if I get embarrassed?"
Honestly? You probably will for about the first two minutes.
Then we usually start chatting about life, kids, work, vacations, reality TV, or whatever comes up, and before you know it, your appointment is over.
One of my favorite compliments from clients is when they tell me the conversation distracted them from the wax.
I'll take that as a win.
"What if I've never done this before?"
Then you're exactly who this article is for.
Everyone starts somewhere.
No one walks into their first Brazilian knowing what to expect.
My job is to guide you through the process, answer your questions, and make sure you feel comfortable from start to finish.
There are no silly questions here.
If you're wondering something, ask.
I'd much rather answer your question than have you spend days worrying about it beforehand.
The Bottom Line
I know booking your first Brazilian can feel intimidating.
But I hope this helps you realize something:
The things you're worried about are almost never the things your waxer is worried about.
I'm not judging your body.
I'm not judging your hair.
I'm not expecting you to know what you're doing.
I'm simply here to help you have a great experience.
If you're looking for a Brazilian wax in Salem, Oregon, I'd love to help make your first appointment as comfortable as possible. Whether you're a first-time client or a seasoned waxer, my goal is always the same: to provide a clean, welcoming, judgment-free experience where you can relax and leave feeling confident.
And if you still have a question that wasn't answered here, ask me at your appointment. Chances are, someone else has wondered the exact same thing.
