5 Brazilian Wax Myths That Need to Die
There are a lot of opinions floating around about Brazilian waxing.
Some are true.
And some need to be retired immediately.
If you've been putting off booking your first wax because of something you heard from a friend, your cousin, or TikTok, let's clear a few things up.
Myth #1: "My waxer is judging me."
Absolutely not.
I promise I am not judging your body, your hair growth, your stretch marks, your scars, or how long it's been since you shaved.
This is my job, and I genuinely just want you to feel comfortable and leave happy.
You do not need to apologize for your body before your appointment.
Ever.
Myth #2: "I need to clean up or trim before my appointment."
Nope.
Please don't stress yourself out trying to make things "perfect."
Your hair should be long enough for the wax to grab—about the length of a grain of rice is ideal—but you don't need to obsess over it.
And honestly? I've seen it all.
Myth #3: "Waxing makes your hair grow back thicker."
This one has been around forever, and it's simply not true.
Waxing removes the hair from the root. Over time, many clients actually notice their hair becoming finer, softer, and more sparse with consistent waxing.
Myth #4: "Brazilians are unbearably painful."
I'm not going to lie and tell you it feels like a spa massage.
But most first-time clients are surprised that it's not nearly as bad as they imagined.
The anticipation is often worse than the actual wax.
And the best part? It usually gets easier with consistency.
Myth #5: "My waxer cares what I look like."
This one deserves repeating.
I don't care if:
You shaved three months ago.
You're on your period.
You have stretch marks.
You have hemorroids
You're nervous.
You're talking the whole appointment.
Or you're completely silent.
My job isn't to judge you.
My job is to make you feel comfortable, give you a great wax, and send you out feeling confident.
The Truth?
Most people are way more nervous before their first Brazilian than they need to be.
You don't need to look a certain way.
You don't need to be embarrassed.
And you definitely don't need to apologize for your body.
Just show up.
I've got the rest.
